The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has heightened security along Feni’s 102-kilometer border to prevent smuggling and illegal infiltration, commonly known as "push-ins."
The Feni Battalion (4 BGB) issued the high alert in response to concerns over potential illegal border crossings linked to upcoming elections in neighboring West Bengal, India. To ensure border integrity, the BGB has intensified 24-hour surveillance, deploying additional mobile and foot patrols across strategic points.
All Border Observation Posts (BOPs) and patrol units are operating under special instructions to maintain maximum vigilance. Intelligence monitoring has also been ramped up to dismantle networks trafficking narcotics, cattle, and unauthorized goods.
Lieutenant Colonel MM Zillur Rahman, Commander of the 4 BGB, stated that proactive operations and surveillance will continue relentlessly to deter border crimes. "The Feni Battalion has taken all necessary measures to ensure border security and remains determined to protect the country's sovereignty," he affirmed.
Authorities have urged residents living near the border to remain alert and promptly report any suspicious activities, infiltration, or smuggling attempts to their nearest BGB camp.
