Three Ministers and State Minister Given New Responsibilities

The government has formed a Cabinet Committee on Fertiliser Management to provide necessary support to the Ministry of Agriculture on fertiliser management and related issues across the country.

The decision was confirmed in a notification issued on Tuesday (August 25), signed by Md Humayun Kabir, Additional Secretary (Committees and Economic) of the Cabinet Division, on behalf of the President. The order takes effect immediately.

Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare Minister Abu Zafar Md Zahid Hossain has been appointed as the convener of the committee.

The other two members are:

• Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu
• Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives State Minister Mir Shahe Alam

According to the notification, the committee will closely monitor the procurement, proper distribution and supply of fertiliser nationwide, as well as the appointment of fertiliser dealers.

The committee will also provide necessary guidance and recommendations to the Ministry of Agriculture on fertiliser-related matters.

The Ministry of Agriculture will provide the committee with all necessary secretarial support.
