


A 28-year-old motorcyclist was killed after his motorcycle crashed into a truck parked beside the road in Baraihat area of Phulbari upazila, Dinajpur, on Monday (August 24) night.
The deceased was identified as Dwip Saha, son of Dilip Saha of West Katabari village in Phulbari municipal area. The accident occurred around 9:00pm on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway.
According to police and local residents, Dwip was returning home from Dinajpur on his motorcycle. When he reached Baraihat in Aladipur Union, his motorcycle collided with the rear of a truck that was parked facing Phulbari on the side of the road.
Local residents alleged that the truck was parked in darkness without its parking lights on. The truck reportedly bore a BRTC logo and had the registration number Dhaka Metro-Ta-22-9080.
Dwip was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered critical injuries. Local residents rescued him and took him to Phulbari Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician declared him dead.
Phulbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahidul Islam said police went to the hospital after receiving the information, prepared an inquest report and handed the body over to the family.
Legal proceedings in connection with the accident are underway.
