To combat climate change and promote environmental sustainability, the Poor Health Center (DSK) distributed 250 fruit, forest, and medicinal tree saplings to 50 local members in Mohanganj on Tuesday.
Operating under the slogan “Cleanliness and greening the environment,” the Mohanganj DSK branch provided each selected member with five free saplings—including mango, guava, neem, and almond. To ensure healthy root establishment, the organization also distributed precise measurements of essential fertilizers (300g Urea, 300g DAP, and 200g MOP) per tree.
Mohanganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Amena Khatun attended the distribution event as the chief guest. DSK Regional Manager Milan Chandra Sarkar presided over the program, joined by Branch Manager Alamgir Azad.
The initiative is part of DSK’s 2026-2027 fiscal year program aimed at reducing air pollution, preventing soil erosion, and preserving local biodiversity. Beneficiaries will plant the saplings on their own lands during the ongoing monsoon season (Ashadh-Shravan), which is the optimal time for local afforestation. DSK officials emphasized the importance of proper planting techniques and routine maintenance to ensure the saplings thrive into healthy trees.
