


State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mir Shahe Alam, MP stated on Friday that Bangladesh is advancing rapidly under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman balancing infrastructure growth with environmental protection and social welfare.
Speaking at a series of welfare events in Mokamtala, Bogura the State Minister emphasized the government's commitment to inclusive development. He began the day by distributing livelihood support materials to disadvantaged ethnic communities under the Integrated Livestock Development Project followed by financial assistance to underprivileged families from his discretionary fund.
Later, the State Minister inaugurated a major tree plantation drive along the 3.5-kilometer re-excavated Barail-Bakson canal in Moydanhatta Union. The project is part of a national initiative to plant 2.5 billion trees over five years. He noted that restoring the silted canal has already resolved local waterlogging and boosted agriculture.
In the evening, Mir Shahe Alam distributed saplings to nearly 6,000 students from 21 educational institutions at the Daridah High School ground. Highlighting the Prime Minister's "One Student, One Tree" initiative, he urged the youth to actively protect the environment.
The State Minister also pointed out that Bogura had faced development neglect for two decades, but the current government is actively working to eliminate these regional disparities.
