Railway police recovered the body of a 12-year-old boy from the roof of the Dhumketu Express at Ishwardi Bypass Railway Station in Pabna on Tuesday (July 7) afternoon.

The deceased, identified as Nirab, was the son of the late Bharu Molla from Kulagati village in Bogra’s Dhunat upazila.

Passengers and station staff spotted the body when the Dhaka-to-Rajshahi intercity train reached the Ishwardi Bypass Station. Pakshi Railway Police immediately arrived at the scene to recover the body.

Police and witnesses suspect the boy died instantly after hitting his head on the Baral Bridge railing in Bhangura while traveling on the moving train's roof.

Pakshi Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ziaur Rahman confirmed the incident. "We have contacted the family," he stated. "The body will be handed over after legal procedures are completed. We have also launched an investigation to confirm the exact circumstances surrounding his death."
