A mobile court fined a meat trader Tk 20,000 for selling rotten beef in Bagat Bazar, Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur, on Tuesday morning.

Acting on a tip-off, Madhukhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Rowshana Jahan led the drive. During a raid at Zakir Butcher's shop, officials confirmed the trader was actively selling spoiled meat to customers.

The court immediately imposed the fine. To eliminate public health risks, authorities seized and buried approximately two maunds (about 75 kg) of the rotten beef.

Speaking to reporters, UNO Rowshana Jahan confirmed the details of the raid and warned that strict campaigns against adulterated and unhealthy food will continue across the upazila in the public interest.
