Severe weather in Chittagong forced three passenger flights to divert to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Tuesday. Winds reaching 80 to 90 kilometers per hour battered the Shah Amanat International Airport area, significantly disrupting daily aviation schedules.
Airport Public Relations Officer Engr. Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil confirmed the diversions. The affected routes include US-Bangla Airlines flight BS350 from Abu Dhabi and Air Arabia flight G9-526 from Sharjah, both of which were safely rerouted to Dhaka. Additionally, Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG121, originally bound for Chittagong from Dhaka, was forced to return to the capital.
The high winds have caused a ripple effect on overall operations at the Chittagong airport. Almost all inbound and outbound flights are currently facing delays ranging from 30 minutes to an hour. Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for updated departure and arrival schedules before heading to the airport.
