Customs officials at Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport seized a consignment of 1,128 cartons of cigarettes and 200 pieces of banned beauty cream on Wednesday night. The estimated market value of the seized cigarettes is Tk 22.56 lakh.

The discovery was made around 9:00 PM during a search of luggage belonging to three passengers arriving from Sharjah on Air Arabia flight G9-520. The passengers have been identified as Selim Ullah of Chakaria, Md. Raihan Uddin of Hatia, and Md. Mansurul Alam of Patiya.

Airport Public Relations Officer, Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, confirmed the seizure. He stated that the goods were confiscated under a Detention Memo (DM) and will remain in the custody of Chattogram Customs House.

Following the seizure, the three passengers were released after receiving a formal verbal warning from the Airport Customs Intelligence and Customs Branch.
