The Election Commission (EC) will apply lessons learned from the recent national election to manage upcoming local government polls, Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah announced Wednesday.
Speaking at a stakeholder dialogue on electoral reform at a Dhaka hotel, Sanaullah stated that national election experiences will heavily influence local poll preparations, particularly in polling station management and organizational logistics.
While acknowledging the different legal frameworks and contexts between national and local elections, he confirmed the EC is actively updating local election rules. To ensure future polls are more effective and acceptable, the Commission is integrating its own internal evaluations with actionable recommendations from independent election observers.
"We are seriously reviewing the evaluations from observation agencies," Sanaullah noted, emphasizing that implementing this feedback will significantly improve the organization of upcoming elections.
The EC has recently concluded its post-election evaluation and is now advancing necessary legal and regulatory reforms to streamline the local voting process.
