


A 37-year-old farmer, Golap Hossain, was killed by a lightning strike in Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur on Wednesday morning. His father, 62-year-old Mokhlesar Rahman, was also injured in the incident.
The tragedy occurred around 9:00 am in Bhatpail Nayapara village, under Betdighi Union.
According to Abdul Mannan, Acting Chairman of Betdighi Union, the father and son were returning home after planting rice seedlings. Lightning suddenly struck them on their way, leaving both severely injured on the ground.
A local resident, Abdul Quddus, witnessed the incident and immediately alerted the family. Relatives rescued the victims and rushed them to the Phulbari Upazila Health Complex.
Upon arrival, the on-duty doctor declared Golap Hossain dead. His father, Mokhlesar Rahman, received primary treatment for his injuries.
Phulbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Abdul Latif confirmed the incident, stating that Golap’s uncle, Faizul Islam, has filed a General Diary (GD) with the station.
