The Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested three suspects and seized a cache of illegal arms and ammunition during an early morning raid in Bhola's Tazumuddin upazila on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, a special team from Coast Guard Base Bhola conducted the operation between 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM in the area adjacent to Char Mozammel Muktijoddha Bazar.
During the drive, the forces searched three suspicious houses and apprehended the individuals. The arrestees were identified as Abbas Majhi (46), Md. Alamgir (43) and Md. Alamgir Hossain (41). All are local residents who already face multiple criminal charges, according to authorities.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan confirmed the details of the raid. He stated that the recovered arsenal included two homemade firearms with one locally made pipe gun, four other makeshift weapons, three rocket flares, 15 rounds of pistol ammunition, two live cartridges and one round of rifle ammunition.
Authorities are currently processing the suspects and the confiscated weapons to initiate formal legal action under the relevant arms laws.
