To foster self-employment and empower rural women, the Upazila Women and Children Affairs Office distributed micro-loans to 12 trained women in Raipur, Lakshmipur. The distribution ceremony took place at the Upazila Nirbahi Officer's (UNO) office on Monday afternoon.
During the event, each of the 12 beneficiaries received a loan of Tk.50,000 bringing the total disbursement to Tk 6 lakh. The women will invest these funds in various income-generating activities, including tailoring, poultry and livestock rearing, fish farming and cottage industries.
Raipur UNO Mehedi Hasan Kawsar and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mehedi Nigar attended the ceremony along with relevant officials and staff from the Upazila Women and Children Affairs Office.
According to the upazila administration micro-loans were provided to the women following specialized training to help them achieve financial independence. Officials expressed hope that by investing the funds effectively also the beneficiaries will create sustainable self-employment opportunities and contribute significantly to their families' economic stability.
