Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said there is no alternative to building a merit-based, efficient and people-friendly public administration to achieve the country’s development goals.

He said the government is committed to developing a confident, creative, and responsible human resource base across all state institutions.

The Prime Minister made these remarks on Saturday (April 25) after laying the foundation stone of the third building of the BIAM Foundation in New Eskaton, Dhaka.

Praising the foundation, he said its steady progress reflects the long-standing commitment to building a skilled and trained public administration for the benefit of the country and its people. The government plans to continue this effort.

Referring to the July–August 2024 mass uprising, Tarique Rahman said it reaffirmed that the people are the true owners of the state. He noted that citizens have long expected accountable, just, and welfare-oriented governance adding that the current government reflects those aspirations.

He stressed that building a modern and prosperous state requires a more people-oriented bureaucracy. He also highlighted the importance of training public officials to serve citizens effectively.

After the ceremony, the Prime Minister inspected ongoing activities at the foundation and exchanged views with officials. Senior government officials, cabinet members, and distinguished guests attended the event.
