A mobile court in Morelganj, Bagerhat, sentenced a habitual drug dealer to six months in prison on Tuesday.

The convict, 60-year-old Jamal Sheikh, is the son of Jinnat Ali Sheikh from Kanthaltola village. According to local police records, Sheikh is a known offender with multiple drug-related cases pending against him.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Inspector Zafrul Alam of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) caught Sheikh red-handed while he was consuming drugs at around 4:00 PM.He was immediately produced before a mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Atish Sarkar. The court sentenced Sheikh to six months of simple imprisonment and imposed a $\text{Tk } 200$ fine. He was subsequently transferred to Bagerhat District Jail to serve his sentence.
