The Health Department has issued special instructions for the treatment of measles and suspected measles patients in all government and private healthcare institutions as cases continue to rise across the country.
In a directive signed by Health Department Director (Hospitals and Clinics) Moinul Ahsan on Tuesday, May 19, healthcare facilities were instructed to open separate wards or cabins for measles and suspected measles patients to prevent the spread of infection.
The directive also ordered hospitals to admit affected patients and ensure proper treatment.
According to the five-point instruction, hospitals must ensure adequate numbers of doctors and healthcare workers in measles isolation wards. Specialist doctors have been instructed to conduct rounds every morning and afternoon, including on holidays.
To reduce infection risks, only one guardian or visitor will be allowed with each patient.
Hospitals have also been directed to upload information on admitted measles patients to the MIS server every day.
