


A nutrition fair was held in Shantiganj of Sunamganj on the occasion of National Nutrition Week 2026. The event was organized under the “Mutual Learning for Improving Health and Nutrition Scenario” project implemented by Efforts for Rural Advancement (ERA).
The fair aimed to promote health and nutrition awareness among disadvantaged communities and facilitate the exchange of health and nutrition experiences between Bangladesh and Nepal.
The event was inaugurated on Monday morning (May 18) at the grounds of Satgaon Jibdara High School in Shimulbak Union. Rashedul Islam, Assistant Scientist of Sunamganj BARTAN, attended as the chief inaugurator.
The inauguration ceremony was chaired by the Headmaster of Satgaon Jibdara High School, Noman Ahmed. Chairman of Shimulbak Union Parishad Shahinur Rahman Shahin attended as the chief guest.
Special guests included Dr. Farzana, Medical Officer of Shantiganj 50-bed Hospital, and Dr. Mahmudul Hasan Biplob.
Speakers at the event praised the activities of ERA in Sunamganj and highlighted the organization’s contribution to improving public health and living standards. They also stressed the need for joint efforts by government and non-government organizations to address the district’s ongoing safe drinking water crisis.
Students of Satgaon Jibdara High School participated in the fair through five stalls displaying local vegetables, fruits, and nutritious food items. Prizes were also distributed among winners of essay and drawing competitions.
Speakers emphasized the importance of expanding awareness programs on health and nutrition among marginalized communities.
