Police recovered the hanging body of a 55-year-old man from his bedroom in Sadullapur upazila of Gaibandha on Tuesday morning.
The deceased, Jahidul Islam Akand, was the son of the late Chamchel Haque Akand of Akandpara in Chhota Daulatpur village, under Khorddakomarpur union. According to local sources, his body was found hanging by a rope around his neck.
Upon receiving the news, a team from Sadullapur Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Aynal, visited the spot. Police conducted the initial inquest report and took the body into custody.
While the police and the victim's family are yet to determine the exact cause of death, the incident has sparked local speculation, with many residents labeling the death as mysterious.
Confirming the incident, SI Aynal stated that an Unnatural Death (UD) case has been filed at the police station. The body was sent to the Gaibandha Sadar Modern Hospital morgue for an autopsy on Tuesday afternoon.
"The exact cause of death will be confirmed once the autopsy report is available. It is too early to comment further," SI Aynal added.
Attempts were made to contact the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadullapur Police Station, AKM Habibul Islam, via his official mobile phone for a statement, but he did not answer the calls.
