College Student Dies from Snakebite in Sadullapur

A college student died after being bitten by a venomous snake in Sadullapur upazila of Gaibandha early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Enamul Haque, 19, son of Habizar Rahman of Konapara village under Idilpur Union. He was a first-year HSC student at Dhapherhat Monikrishna Sen Degree College.

According to locals, Enamul went to a nearby beel (wetland) around 7pm on Tuesday to set up a fish trap. While placing the trap, he was bitten by a poisonous snake.

He was first taken to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex, where doctors provided primary treatment and referred him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced care. However, he died on the way to Rangpur in the early hours of Wednesday.

Confirming the death, Jalal Uddin, assistant teacher of Islampur Balika Dakhil Madrasa, said Enamul had passed his SSC examination this year and recently enrolled at Dhapherhat Monikrishna Sen Degree College.

Following the news of his untimely death, a pall of grief descended over the area. His parents and relatives broke into tears, filling the air with cries of sorrow.

Enamul was laid to rest at the family graveyard after Asr prayers on Wednesday.
