Algerian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Dr. Abdelouahab Saidani, has expressed his country's keen interest in investing in Bangladesh, specifically highlighting the southern coastal district of Bhola's vast potential in agriculture, energy and fertilizer production.

The ambassador shared these remarks during an exchange of views with local business leaders at the Bhola Circuit House on Thursday (May 14) afternoon. The event was organized by the Bhola Chamber of Commerce.

Highlighting the historic ties between the two nations, Dr. Saidani noted that Algeria has maintained a friendly relationship with Bangladesh since its independence in 1971. He emphasized that Algeria has stood by Bangladesh during past crises and is committed to strengthening mutual cooperation in trade and commerce.

"Bhola is a beautiful and promising city that has seen remarkable development," the ambassador said. "There is huge potential to build a fertilizer factory here, and Algeria is highly interested in investing in this sector, alongside agriculture and fuel."

To further encourage business exchanges and strengthen bilateral ties, Dr. Saidani announced a commitment to highly expedited consular services, stating that the Algerian embassy aims to process visas for Bangladeshis in as little as 10 minutes.

The meeting focused on various aspects of bilateral trade, exploring new investment opportunities and mutual cooperation. Local business leaders welcomed the ambassador's visit, calling it a significant step toward expanding economic ties between Bangladesh and Algeria.

The session was presided over by Alhaj Golam Nabi Alamgir, Bhola District Council Administrator and President of the Bhola Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Vice President Humayun Kabir Sopan moderated the event. Among the distinguished speakers were Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Abdullah Al Mamun and Chamber Directors Aminul Islam Khan, Md. Raisul Alam, Tariqul Islam Quaid and Md. Sohel.

A large number of local entrepreneurs, business leaders, and industrial representatives were present to discuss future commercial prospects.
