A festive atmosphere gripped the Kachpur Bridge area on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway today, Saturday, as a massive crowd gathered ahead of PM Tarique Rahman journey to Chandpur.
Led by Narayanganj-1 MP Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan Dipu, BNP leaders and activists took up positions across various points from Kachpur to Madanpur. Since morning, party workers from Rupganj, Araihazar, and Siddhirganj converged on the highway in processions and motorcycle rallies.
The entire area came alive with drumbeats and slogans. Banners, festoons, and party flags lined both sides of the highway, while activists carried placards featuring Tarique Rahman’s image.
Local BNP leaders noted that the leader’s visit has injected fresh enthusiasm into the grassroots, visibly boosting local organizational activities.
To ensure safety, additional law enforcement personnel have been deployed across the Kachpur, Bhulta, and Madanpur areas. While the Highway Police and District Police are working to maintain order, the massive influx of people has caused traffic slowdowns and brief congestion in some areas.
Scores of ordinary citizens also gathered along the highway to witness the procession, with many recording the event on their mobile phones. PM is scheduled to address multiple road rallies and attend organizational meetings during his visit to Chandpur.
