A truck driver and his helper father were killed early Saturday after being hit by an unidentified bus while repairing their vehicle on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in Bhanga, Faridpur.

The incident occurred around 4:30 AM in front of the Bagail toll plaza.

The deceased were identified as truck driver Yakub Ali, 26, and his helper father, Yusuf Ali, 50. They were residents of the Rupdia area in Jashore Sadar Upazila.

According to Shibchar Highway Police Station Sergeant Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, the Jashore-bound freight truck pulled over near the toll plaza after one of its rear wheels broke down. As Yakub and Yusuf were repairing the wheel, a speeding bus bound for Bhanga struck them from behind and fled the scene. Both died on the spot.

Upon receiving the information, highway police recovered the bodies and seized the truck.

Shibchar Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mizanur Rahman confirmed the deaths, adding, "We have recovered the bodies of the driver and his father. Efforts are currently underway to identify the bus and arrest the driver. Legal proceedings are ongoing."
