A 25-year-old woman, Reshma Begum, was killed in a road accident in Madhukhali on Sunday morning while traveling to see her deceased mother's body.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:10 am on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway, directly in front of the Maleka Eye Hospital in the Gondardia area.
According to local sources, a Magura-bound private car (Dhaka Metro-G 25-0962) traveling from Faridpur lost control and crashed into the hospital's boundary wall. Reshma Begum, a passenger in the vehicle, sustained critical injuries.
Madhukhali Fire Service personnel responded to the scene, rescued her, and rushed her to the Madhukhali Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
Reshma was the wife of Abdur Sattar Gazi from Komarpur village in Debhata, Satkhira. Family members stated she had embarked on the journey to mourn her mother, who had passed away earlier, but tragically lost her own life before reaching the destination.
Sub-Inspector Sajjad of the Karimpur Highway Police Station confirmed that the damaged vehicle has been impounded. An initial inquest report has been prepared, and the body is currently being held at the Madhukhali Upazila Health Complex morgue.
Police stated that further legal proceedings regarding the incident are underway.
