


The land minister said, "Jalmahal is not a private property, it is the people's property. Therefore in the interest of public interest, environmental conservation, and protecting the livelihoods of the poor, the authorities must move towards humane, just and sustainable management." The minister said these things at the 90th meeting of the committee on granting government water reservoir leases in the ministry's meeting room on Wednesday (April 22).
The meeting was presided over by Land Minister Md. Mizanur Rahman Minu MP. State Minister Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin and Senior Secretary of the ministry A. S. M. Saleh Ahmed were present at the meeting.
The Land Minister also said that many irregularities have been committed in granting these leases in the past. Therefore, he instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Sunamganj to send the proposed list to the ministry as soon as possible after taking the opinions of local public representatives.
State Minister for Land Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin said that the recommendations coming from the district regarding water reservoir leases need to be reviewed.
The State Minister also said that the proposals should be reviewed with the advice of local parliamentarians in the light of prevailing laws and policies so that inclusive and foolproof work is done.
"It is noted that in today's meeting, a proposal was raised regarding the lease of the water reservoir in Sunamganj district. In addition, in today's meeting, the proposal to excavate the Bil Churail (closed) water reservoir in Chapainawabganj district was approved.
