


In the past 24 hours five more children have died from measles and related complications in Bangladesh. During the same period, 125 new cases were confirmed, while 1,170 children showed symptoms of the disease.
The information was released (April 23) in a regular report by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the report 4 children died with measles symptoms in the last day—two in Dhaka division, and one each in Chattogram and Khulna divisions. In addition, one child died of confirmed measles in Dhaka division during the same period.
Since March 15, a total of 28,334 children have shown measles symptoms nationwide. Among them 4,059 cases have been laboratory confirmed.
The DGHS also reported that 18,845 children have been admitted to hospitals with measles symptoms during this period. Of them 15,728 have recovered and returned home after treatment.
Health officials continue to urge parents to seek medical care early and ensure children receive routine vaccinations to prevent further spread.
