Former Real Madrid Castilla Player Borja Ferrer Dies at 44

Former Spanish footballer Borja Ferrer, who played for Real Madrid Castilla during the 2002–03 season, has died at the age of 44 after a long illness.

Real Madrid confirmed his death in an official statement, with club president and the board of directors expressing their condolences.

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Real Madrid Castilla player Borja Ferrer, who represented the club during the 2002–03 season," the club said.

The club also extended its sympathies to Ferrer's family, friends, former teammates, and loved ones, describing his death at such a young age as a great loss.

Ferrer spent much of his career in Spain's lower football divisions. In addition to Real Madrid Castilla, he also played for Xerez and several other Spanish clubs. Persistent health problems forced him to retire from professional football at a relatively young age.

His death has prompted tributes from across Spanish football, with former teammates, supporters, and members of the football community sharing messages of remembrance on social media.
