Tongibari Law and Order Meeting Focuses on Curbing Drugs and Juvenile Crime

The Tongibari upazila administration in Munshiganj has urged residents and political leaders to unite against drug abuse and juvenile crime to maintain local peace and stability.

The call to action was made during the upazila’s monthly law and order committee meeting, held at the Upazila Parishad conference room on Tuesday morning. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tahmina Akhter chaired the session, which was moderated by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Wazed Wasif.

During the discussion the speakers emphasized that law enforcement agencies alone cannot control local crime without active public awareness and community cooperation. The committee prioritized taking strict also coordinated measures to eradicate local drug syndicates and address the rising trend of juvenile offenses in the area.

"If the public is not aware and engaged, it becomes incredibly difficult for the administration to control upazila-level crime," speakers noted and calling for a unified community approach.

The meeting brought together a diverse group of local stakeholders to ensure broad cooperation. Attendees included local political figures from the BNP, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Andolan Bangladesh, alongside union parishad chairmen, journalists and health, education and police officials.
