In a decisive move against illegal sand mining, the upazila administration conducted a mobile court drive in Ward 3 of Kharia, near Shimulia Bazar in Louhajang, on Thursday.

Led by Louhajang Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Erfanur Rahman and supported by local police, the operation dismantled an illegal sand-lifting operation. Although the perpetrators fled before authorities arrived, the team seized and immediately destroyed approximately half a kilometer of piping used for the illicit extraction.

The immediate destruction of the equipment ensures the perpetrators cannot resume their operations. Upazila officials reaffirmed their zero-tolerance policy against environmental degradation, stating that routine drives will continue to enforce the law and protect the local ecology in the public interest.
