A mobile court has dismantled an illegal sand-filling operation in the Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj with disabling dredger machines and removing long stretches of extraction pipes.
Led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Erfanur Rahman, the drive was conducted on Thursday afternoon in the Palgaon Mouza of Gawdia Union. The sudden raid was initiated in response to grievances from local residents regarding the unchecked and unauthorized sand extraction in the area.
During the operation authorities cut and destroyed the extensive piping network used to pump the sand. Specially the pipes that were illegally installed across government roads causing severe disruption and hazards for public movement were completely dismantled and cleared from the site.
Following the drive Magistrate Erfanur Rahman issued a strict order to permanently halt the illegal sand-filling activities and warned the perpetrators against resuming the operation.
Speaking on the initiative the Executive Magistrate assured the public that the upazila administration will maintain a zero-tolerance policy against such environmental and infrastructural violations. "Strict operations will continue in the future to protect government roads, the environment, and public interests" he stated.
