Measles Deaths in Bangladesh Reach 831 as 3 More Children Die in Last 24Hrs

Three more children died from measles or measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours to 8 am Wednesday with raising Bangladesh's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles deaths to 831.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) classified one of the new deaths as a confirmed measles fatality and the other two as suspected. This takes the total suspected measles deaths to 735 and lab-confirmed deaths to 96.

During the same period 996 new suspected measles cases were reported with bringing the nationwide total to 126,540. An additional 79 confirmed cases were recorded and the total lab-confirmed infections to 15,739.

Since March 15, a total of 109,366 suspected measles patients have been hospitalised across the country. Of them 105,198 have recovered according to DGHS data.
