


The Election Commission of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) has officially announced the final results for the 2026-2028 biennial elections. Following a hearing by the Appeal Board on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the commission upheld the preliminary results. The newly elected leadership took office immediately after the announcement, marking a fresh chapter for the trade body.
Polling took place peacefully on Saturday, April 18, followed by a manual vote count. Preliminary results were first released at 1:00 AM that night and were subsequently verified as final.
Election Winners Dr. Md. Ali Afzal secured the presidency with 232 votes, while Abdur Razzak was elected Senior Vice President with 216 votes. Other key executive winners include
Vice President-1 Mohammad Akhter Biswas (250 votes) Vice President-2 Abu Khalid Md. Barkatullah (255 votes) Vice President-3 A.F.M. Ubaidullah (234 votes) Vice President (Finance) Dr. Md. Harun Or Rashid (262 votes - highest executive vote) Vice President (Chattogram) Mohammad Morshedul Hasan (317 votes)
Mohammad Labib Billah topped the overall Director category with 338 votes, followed by Umme Jahan Arju and Habibur Rahman Habib, who both secured 304 votes.
A total of 20 directors were elected for the Dhaka region, including A.Z.M. Kamruddin, Captain Md. Shah Alam, and Tasnova Mahbub Salam, among others. From the Chattogram region, ASM Abdul Gaffar Miyaji and Sarist Binte Nur were elected as directors. Additionally, a six-member Chattogram Regional Committee was formed, featuring Nur Mohammad and Eng. SK Nazim Uddin.
The election featured a contest between three panels—the Progressive Housing Business Council, the Housing Business Unity Council, and the Jagran Panel—alongside a single independent presidential candidate.
Progressive Housing Business Council: Won 15 posts, including President and Senior Vice President.
Housing Business Unity Council: Won 14 posts, including VP-1 and VP (Chattogram).
Jagran Panel Failed to secure any seats The new committee aims to modernize the housing sector by addressing policy hurdles, reducing registration costs, and easing access to bank loans. Priorities include amending construction regulations and constructing a permanent headquarters for REHAB.
New Senior Vice President Abdur Razzak has convened an emergency board meeting tomorrow, April 22, at 11:00 AM at the REHAB office to outline immediate actions.
