A farewell reception was held on Tuesday for Dr. Md. Latiful Islam the outgoing Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of the Brackish Water Fisheries Research Center in Paikgachha, Khulna.
The event, chaired by the new center head Dr. Azhar Ali, saw colleagues and well-wishers gather to honor Dr. Islam’s 28-year career at the institution.
Dr. Islam joined the center as a Scientific Officer in 1998 and rose through the ranks to become CSO. He is widely recognized for his research on coastal fish and crab breeding having published over 50 articles in national and international journals. Under his leadership, the center secured first place in the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) for three consecutive years.
Dr. Islam has been transferred to the Research and Planning Branch of the Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI).
Meanwhile Dr. Azhar Ali previously the head of the Rangamati River Sub-Center has officially taken charge of the Paikgachha center.
