A long-standing dispute over a boundary wall in Malopara village of Lakshmipasha union, Lohagara upazila in Narail, has been resolved through mediation. After nearly five hours of discussions, the blocked road was reopened on Wednesday morning.
The meeting, held on Tuesday (April 21) from 4:00 pm to 9:30 pm in Malopara, was arranged by the district administration.
According to officials, the talks were conducted under the direction of Narail-2 MP Ataur Rahman Bachchu and the Deputy Commissioner, and chaired by Additional District Magistrate Lincoln Biswas.
Following the meeting, Lincoln Biswas said both parties agreed to remove the boundary wall that had blocked the road.
Barrister Dedar-e-Elahi will begin removing the wall from Wednesday morning. Space will be kept for constructing a public road for local residents. Officials expect this to provide a lasting solution.
Local leaders, social representatives, and community members attended the meeting, which helped ease tensions.
Sushanta Biswas, a resident of Malopara, said the outcome was satisfactory and welcomed the decision to ensure road access.
Md. Haider, representing Barrister Dedar-e-Elahi, also expressed satisfaction over the resolution.
Among those present were Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. Kamruzzaman, Upazila Executive Officer Shammi Akhter, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Summita Saha, Jamaat leader Jamirul Haque Tutul, BNP leader Tipu Sultan, and Narail Press Club General Secretary Mahbubur Rashid Lavlu.
For years, locals had been using part of land under former Dag No. 261 and R.S. Dag No. 2028 in Lakshmipasha Mouza as a road. The dispute escalated on April 16 when a wall was constructed, blocking access for around 25 families, including minority fishing communities.
The issue gained attention after being reported on social media and in national and local media, prompting administrative intervention.
