Pabna Teen Murder: Suspect Held Within 24 Hours

Police have detained a 25-year-old man within 24 hours of the murder of 13-year-old Sakibul in Faridpur Upazila, Pabna, allegedly over the robbery of his auto-van.

The suspect, identified as Imon Hossain, 25, was detained on Monday. Police later recovered Sakibul's auto-van from Dhanuaghata village based on information obtained during the investigation.

Sakibul was the son of Haris Pramanik of Ratanpur village in Faridpur Upazila. Imon is the son of Shah Alam of Kaliaikair village under Ullapara police station in Sirajganj. He currently lives in Dighulia village of Faridpur.

According to police and local sources, Sakibul left home with his van on Sunday morning, as he did every day, to transport passengers along the Demra-Faridpur road. His family lost contact with him from around noon that day.

Later, residents of Mazat village spotted a body floating in the Baral River to the north of the village and informed police. Police recovered the body and identified it as Sakibul's.

His auto-van was missing at the time. Police also found a serious injury to his head and suspected that he had been killed by robbers who took the vehicle and left his body near the river.

Sakibul's father, Haris Uddin, filed a murder case with the police station on Sunday night against unidentified accused persons.

Following the case, police launched an investigation and detained Imon on Monday. They subsequently conducted a raid with him and recovered Sakibul's auto-van from Dhanuaghata village.

Police also detained a local businessman, identified as Muktar Hossain, over allegedly purchasing the stolen auto-van.

Faridpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manzurul Hasan Masud said the detained suspect was being questioned in connection with the case and that procedures were underway to produce him before the court.
