The Rotary Club of Evergreen Pabna has distributed sewing machines to 35 women after completing a sewing training programme aimed at helping them become financially self-reliant.
The machines were handed over to the trained women at the closing ceremony of a sewing training camp held at the auditorium of Pabna Technical School and College at 3pm on Monday (September 14).
Engineer Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman, principal of Pabna Technical School and College, attended the event as the chief guest. Social Services Officers Mamun Hossain and Biplob Hossain were present as special guests.
Rotarian Moinul Islam Khan Badsha presided over the programme.
Rotarian Jalal Uddin, Rotarian Mohammad Rashidul Hasan Bokul and other members of the Rotary Club of Evergreen Pabna were also present.
Speakers at the event said providing sewing machines along with practical training would enable the women to earn an income from home. This, they said, could help improve their own financial condition as well as that of their families.
The initiative is intended to support women's economic empowerment by equipping them with practical skills and the means to use those skills for income generation.
