The Speaker of the National Assembly has formed a five-member high-powered inquiry committee following reports of massive financial irregularities in parliamentary procurement.

The move comes after a report titled 'Hariloot in Parliament Shopping' was published in the Daily Bangladesh Pratidin and various online portals on April 19, 2026. Taking immediate notice of the allegations, the Speaker constituted the team today to investigate the claims of "looting" and mismanagement.

The committee is led by Whip A.B.M. Ashraf Uddin (Nijan), MP (Lakshmipur-4). The other members are Lutfullahel Majed, MP (Mymensingh-8) Md. Saiful Alam, MP (Dhaka-12) Humam Quader Chowdhury, MP (Chittagong-7) Md. Abul Hasnat, MP (Cumilla-4)

The committee has been directed to conduct a thorough probe and submit its formal findings within the next seven days.
