


Speakers at a workshop held at the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) said that effective Shariah governance is very important to maintain public confidence in the Islamic banking system. Good governance-based Shariah supervision plays a helpful role in ensuring transparency and accountability in banking activities.
A training workshop titled “Shariah Governance for Members of Shariah Supervisory Committee” was held at the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) on Tuesday (April 21). The speakers said these things at the inauguration ceremony of the three-day special training workshop. The workshop was jointly organized by BIBM and Bangladesh Bank.
The workshop was inaugurated as the chief guest by Dr. Md. Kabir Ahmed, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, under the chairmanship of Dr. Md. Ejazul Islam, Director General of BIBM. Professor Dr. Abu Bakr Rafique, Chairman of the Shariah Advisory Board of Bangladesh Bank, was present as the special guest. Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh, was present as the guest of honor. BIBM Professor and Director (Director) Dr. Mohammad Tajul Islam delivered the welcome speech at the event.
It was informed that BIBM is conducting regular training, research and knowledge exchange activities to enhance good governance and professional skills in the banking sector.
It is worth noting that members of the Shariah Supervisory Committees of various Islamic banks and financial institutions of the country are participating in this workshop, which is being held from April 21 to 23. The workshop will discuss the framework, policies and best practices of Shariah governance.
