Government Sets Procurement Prices for Boro Paddy and Rice

The government has finalized procurement prices for paddy, rice, and wheat for the 2025-26 Boro season. Under the new rates, the government will purchase paddy at Tk 36 per kg and parboiled rice at Tk 49 per kg.

Additionally, the price for ataps (sun-dried) rice has been set at Tk 48 per kg, while wheat will be bought at Tk 36 per kg.

The decision was reached during a Food Planning and Procurement Committee (FPMC) meeting held at the Secretariat on Wednesday. Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed briefed the media on the outcomes following the session. Paddy Collection begins May 3. Rice Collection begins May 15. Deadline Both procurement programs will conclude on August 31.

Regarding wheat supplies, the Home Minister noted that the government is currently in talks to import wheat from the United States. He clarified that if the targeted amount cannot be secured through this agreement, the remainder will be collected via open international tenders.
