


World Water Day was observed in Pabna on Saturday with the theme: “Water rights mean food rights, water rights mean livelihood rights.”
A discussion meeting was held at the Pabna Media Center auditorium at 10:30 am. The event was organized by Bachte Chai Samaj Unnayan Samity in collaboration with the Association for Land Reform and Development (ALRD).
At the start of the programme, Kamal Ahmed Siddiqui, District Human Rights Officer of MSF in Pabna, presented the keynote article highlighting the importance of water rights.
The session was chaired by Abdur Rob Montu, Executive Director of the organizing body. Among the speakers were Md. Nazmul Hossain, Deputy Assistant Engineer of the Pabna Water Development Board; journalist Arif Ahmed Siddiqui; lecturer Tanjida Akhter Iti of Pabna College; lecturers Sharmin Shapla and Jasmine Ara; YWCA editor Hena Goswami; community organizer Chameli Rita Costa; and teachers Ashraf Ali and Runa Parveen.
Teachers, students, representatives from government and private organisations, and local residents attended the event.
The programme was moderated by Jahangir Alam, Upazila Facilitator of the MSF Emphar Project.
