A discussion meeting titled "Harmful Effects of Drugs in Schools: Our Responsibility" was held at Khamar Dashlia Adarsh High School in Sadullapur, Gaibandha. Under the theme "Say No to Drugs, Build a Beautiful Life," the event aimed to raise awareness among students and the local community.
Presided over by Acting Headmaster Mizanur Rahman Patwari, the session featured Gaibandha Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Jasim Uddin as the chief guest.
Addressing the audience, SP Jasim Uddin described drug addiction as a "social disease." He emphasized that law enforcement alone cannot eradicate the menace. "To remove this poison from society, public representatives, political leaders, teachers, and conscious citizens must play an active role alongside the police," he stated. He further noted that the "terrible grip of drugs" is destroying the bright futures of talented students and teenagers.
Sathi Akhtar, a 10th-grade student, delivered a speech on the dangers of addiction. The guests presented crests to 12 meritorious and scholarship-winning students of the school. Attendees included Sadullapur OC AKM Habibul Islam, district and local leaders from BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, and members of the Zia Parishad.
The program concluded with a call to guardians to remain vigilant in protecting their children from drug abuse to ensure a healthy, drug-free future.
