Following signals from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli forces launched fresh attacks on Lebanon, leaving at least 10 people dead and many others injured on Wednesday, according to reports from The Jerusalem Post.
The escalation comes amid a US-backed ceasefire understanding with Iran, which called for halting hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon. While Washington agreed to those terms, Israel reportedly excluded Lebanon from the arrangement.
Lebanese authorities said Israeli airstrikes continued in southern regions since morning. The Ministry of Health confirmed that eight people were killed and 28 injured in a strike on a café in the city of Sidon.
Meanwhile, Al-Mayadeen reported that two people were killed in a separate strike targeting a vehicle in the Ras el-Ain area. Additional air raids were reported in Wadi Barghaz.
According to the National News Agency, Israeli attacks continued across southern Lebanon. Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee warned residents of the city of Tyre to evacuate north of the Zahrani River ahead of possible further strikes.
Lebanon’s Crisis Management Unit has advised displaced residents not to return to southern areas due to ongoing security risks.
Lebanese officials say that since March 2, Israeli operations have killed more than 1,500 people and displaced over 1.2 million. Israel has also launched ground operations in southern Lebanon, stating its aim is to establish a “buffer zone” along the border.
