Israeli warplanes launched a series of intense overnight airstrikes and artillery attacks across southern Lebanon as Lebanese state media reported on Friday.
The National News Agency (NNA) confirmed that Israeli jets struck the town of Mansouri early Friday while powerful blasts echoed across multiple southern villages. Israeli ground forces also detonated explosives in the towns of Hadatha and al-Tiri in the Bint Jbeil district and warplanes conducted mock air raids over the city of Tyre.
Further airstrikes and artillery shelling targeted areas around Nabatieh specifically hitting Ali al-Taher and Dabsha hills.
This latest bombardment escalates the ongoing conflict that flared up on March 2. The renewed hostilities have effectively shattered a ceasefire established in November 2024, triggering widespread Israeli military operations and retaliatory strikes by the armed group Hezbollah.
Amid the escalating violence the US-led diplomatic efforts are underway to broker new security arrangements. The negotiations face significant hurdles the Lebanon is demanding an immediate halt to the attacks and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from its territory. Conversely, Israel insists that any withdrawal is strictly contingent upon enforcing measures that prevent Hezbollah from maintaining a military presence near the border.
