


Free seeds and fertilisers were distributed among small and marginal farmers in Bheramara to boost the cultivation of jute, rapeseed, moong and sesame under the government’s agricultural incentive programme for the 2025–26 fiscal year.
The distribution programme was held on Tuesday, organised by the Bheramara Upazila Administration and the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Kushtia.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Mahmuda Sultana Poli presided over the event, while Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rafiqul Islam Robin attended as the chief guest.
Among the special guests were Bheramara Upazila BNP Member Secretary and former acting Upazila Parishad Chairman Shahajan Ali, Upazila Jamaat Ameer Jalal Uddin, BNP leader Janbar Hossain, Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Ashfaqur Rahman, and journalist S.M. Abu Obaid-al-Mahadi.
A total of 500 farmers received jute seeds, 1,420 received aus paddy seeds, 50 received sesame seeds, and 30 received moong seeds.
Each beneficiary also received fertilisers alongside seeds. Jute farmers were given 1 kg of seeds, 5 kg of DAP, and 5 kg of MOP. Aus farmers received 5 kg of seeds, 10 kg of DAP, and 10 kg of MOP. Moong farmers were provided 5 kg of seeds, 10 kg of DAP, and 5 kg of MOP, while sesame farmers received 1 kg of seeds, 19 kg of DAP, and 5 kg of MOP.
The initiative aims to support farmers and increase crop production in the region.
