Kazi Nazrul Islam, a resident of Ghoradumbur village in Sunamganj’s Shantiganj Upazila, has accused his neighbors of harassment through a series of "false and vindictive" lawsuits.

During a press conference at Pagla Bazar on Wednesday, Nazrul alleged that Shakhawat Hossain and Julhas Hossain have been obstructing his family's construction projects on ancestral land. He claimed the duo recently attempted to attack his family with sticks when they began expanding their building. While locals intervened to prevent violence, Nazrul stated that the construction remains halted after the opponents allegedly misled police with false information.

"Shakhawat and Julhas have filed 10 to 15 cases against us in Sunamganj and Sylhet over the last few years," Nazrul claimed. "Most of these are baseless and intended to harass our relatives." He further alleged that Shakhawat uses his physical disability to gain administrative sympathy and extort money through litigation.

Nazrul called for urgent intervention from local authorities to ensure his family’s safety.

In response, the accused Julhas Hossain denied the allegations. "We are two brothers with disabilities; we cannot even walk. How could we carry out attacks?" he asked. Julhas claimed the lawsuits were a legitimate response to Nazrul’s family allegedly seizing their property in Sylhet. "We respect the law and have not threatened anyone," he added.

Shantiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Oli Ullah stated that the police have not yet received a formal complaint regarding these specific allegations. "If a complaint is filed, we will take legal action," the OC said.
