Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah, Vice-Chancellor of the National University (NU), criticized the government's low Gross Domestic Product (GDP) allocation to the education sector, stating that no other country invests so little. He emphasized that education investment is the key to national development.
The VC made his remarks as the chief guest at a quality improvement meeting with principals, teachers, and students from Mymensingh, Netrokona, and Kishoreganj districts held at Nasirabad College on Monday (October 20).
Dr. Amanullah noted that the National University is the world's second-largest public university and stressed that the reform of the country's higher education system must be driven by its vast network of affiliated colleges.

He highlighted the successful implementation of publishing exam results within two months, with plans to further reduce this to one month using advanced technology to eliminate long-standing session jams.
The VC underscored the critical need for students to acquire ICT and English skills to create a skilled workforce. He announced an initiative to prepare twelve thousand ICT teachers through special training and stated that financial incentives will be provided to encourage students to return to classes. Initiatives are underway to establish a regional center, teacher training center, and a separate examination center in Mymensingh.
