


RAB-7 has arrested 26-year-old Md. Hridoy, a prime suspect in the brutal murder of dredger security guard Salauddin in Sitakunda. The arrest took place during a raid in the Bitak Bazar area of Pahartali, Chittagong, on Saturday afternoon.
According to RAB-7 Assistant Superintendent of Police ARM Mozaffar Hossain, Hridoy is a resident of Mandaritola in Sitakunda. Following his arrest, he was handed over to Sitakunda Model Police Station. "Our intelligence surveillance continues as we work to uncover the full mystery behind this killing and apprehend the remaining suspects," the official stated.
Background of the Incident The victim, Salauddin, served as a security guard for a dredger owned by 'Rising Steel Ship Breaking Limited.' On January 31, a dispute erupted between Salauddin and a group led by Rifat Hossain regarding the theft of oil from the vessel.
During the altercation, Salauddin was allegedly attacked with sharp weapons and iron rods. The attackers then reportedly took him to the deep sea by boat, where he was killed.
Salauddin remained missing for three days until police recovered his body from the mud of the Koania Canal on February 3. His family later identified the remains.
The victim's wife has filed a case naming seven individuals and including up to 20 unidentified suspects. Police investigations are ongoing.
