First Session of 13th Parliament Summoned for March 12

The first session of the 13th National Parliament is scheduled to commence on March 12, where members will elect the new Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed shared the update with reporters on Sunday following a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat.

The upcoming session will feature several key legislative procedures, including. Voting for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House. Formal tabling of ordinances issued during the interim government’s tenure. A condolence motion and the mandatory Presidential address.

The Home Minister noted that the Parliament Secretariat will now forward a summary to the President via the Prime Minister’s Office. Following standard constitutional procedure, the President will officially convene the session for the decided date of March 12.
