Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher Suman has issued a stern warning that no construction or facility will be permitted outside the bounds of the law. He emphasized that all upcoming projects must strictly adhere to legal frameworks to ensure transparency and accountability.
The Minister made these remarks during a view-exchange meeting with departmental heads under his ministry at the Cumilla Circuit House on Saturday evening.
"Our government is committed to the rule of law," Zakaria Taher Suman stated. "While we cannot change the irregularities of the past, we will prioritize ensuring that no deviations occur during my tenure. Legal compliance will be our top priority."
Strict steps will be taken to prevent waste and control corruption in all public works. Stalled or suspended projects will be evaluated based on public need and restarted on a priority basis. The meeting reviewed the progress of ongoing construction in Cumilla, including government housing, priority police station buildings, and the development of the Cumilla central jail.
The session was attended by Cumilla Deputy Commissioner Mu. Reza Hasan, City Corporation Administrator Shah Alam, and Police Superintendent Anisuzzaman, alongside other senior officials. Following the administrative meeting, the Minister met with local representatives and party activists.
