Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus returned to his previous workplace on Sunday morning, marking the conclusion of his tenure as Chief Adviser to the interim government.
Following an 18-month leadership period that began on August 8, 2024, Dr. Yunus officially handed over executive authority to the newly elected government led by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), which secured a landslide victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
According to a post on his verified Facebook page, Dr. Yunus arrived at the Yunus Centre—located within the Telecom Bhaban in Mirpur—on Sunday (February 22) morning. He was greeted with a warm welcome by longtime colleagues before presiding over a meeting with managing directors and advisers from various Grameen organizations and the Yunus Centre.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner is also expected to return to his private residence in Gulshan by the end of this month. Dr. Yunus had stepped down from his role as Chief Adviser earlier this week to facilitate the democratic transition following the peaceful conduct of the national polls.
