A Gazipur court has sent BNP leader and former LGED executive engineer Kazi Mujibur Rahman and two others to jail in a case over embezzlement and advance bill withdrawal using another contractor’s license.
District and Sessions Judge Mumtaz Parvin rejected their bail plea. The other accused are Moniruzzaman Khan Lavlu, former organizing secretary of Kaliganj BNP, and Golam Mostafa of Narayanganj.
According to the case, the trio allegedly used a contractor’s license to secure a Tk 4.10 crore LGED project in Teknaf in 2019, withdrew over Tk 1.43 crore without completing the work, and failed to return Tk 40 lakh in security deposits.
Following an investigation by the district detective branch, the court found the allegations to be true. The accused had earlier secured interim bail from the High Court but failed to surrender on time. They later appeared before the Gazipur court and were denied bail.
